A Very Cool Cake for a Very Special Girl

A very special friend of ours is about to turn the big 1-3! Very exciting news!!! She happens to be a big fan of the Cake Boss, and she told her momma she wanted a Purple Zebra cake. Her mom knew exactly who to call :) We set to work while the kids were at school, and here is what we came up with! Sierra stopped by later to tell me thank you, and that she absolutely LOVED her cake. SCORE!!! Happy 13th Birthday Sierra!!!

For My Little Brother

This cake doesn't look like anything fancy, but what it lacks in looks, it makes up for in deliciousness. My little brother likes Chocolate. And his birthday fell on Thanksgiving this year, so it was difficult to make plans for anything exotic.

This is a triple chocolate fudge cake (chocolate cake with chocolate chips and chocolate fudge inside), with chocolate fudge frosting and chocolate chips and chocolate sprinkles, and solid milk chocolate drizzled on the top and around the edges. It was like a chocolate overdose.

It was perfect!

Simply Meant to Be

Sami's eighteenth birthday cake had to be the biggest, the best, and had to top all other cakes thus far. Our favorite thing on Earth is The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I knew where to start.

The moon in the background is solid cake. The hill on top is, too. Every single inch of this cake is edible, and I find it to be a remarkable representation of our favorite flick. I had ordered a sweet topper for this cake, but USPS couldn't get it to me on time, so I opted for a printout of the topper. Almost perfection.

Everybody Loves Babies

My brother's first baby recently arrived. Baby J! His wife came to town for her shower, and I was asked to bring cake. This being my first nephew ever, I decided to go all out. It's hard to see in the pic, but this cake even has an "outtie" belly button.

Something Magical

I love my babies. No, I mean I LOVE my babies. I would do anything for them. So when Isa and Ary cornered me to discuss their cake plans, I listened and took notes.

"Mom, we want princesses and ponies and a stream and a garden and a fairy house and some toadstools and chocolate rocks."

Check, check, and double check.

Again, this cake is completely edible, except for the torso of the princesses and the my little ponies.
This just my be my favorite creation ever.

My Step Mom Rocks

My little brother and I were discussing my stepmoms approaching birthday, and came to the realization that this was her FIFTIETH. Woah, big deal!!! We knew that it was unlikely that she would plan her own celebration, so it was up to us to put something together! She was always on top of our birthdays, always making them special. It was time we returned the favor, and a surprise party was in the works. We talked to my dad, and filled him in on a few details. Basically, all he had to do was keep it a secret, and not take her out for dinner before we arrived. I cooked a feast and made cake, while little bro invited guests and got ice cream and balloons. We met at my house, piled pans full of food into our vehicles and headed over. Our parents really enjoy their quiet neighborhood, so naturally we cranked up our stereos and rumbled our exhaust all the way down their street. She was standing in the window with a very "mom" look on her face when we pulled up. She was definitely surprised! I wanted the cake to be very special, but not too insulting, so I opted for white cake with black trim.

Then I decided to pile on 50 candles, and well, I don't think she was too upset ;) And then dad brought the blow torch. It was epic!

Hubby Loves his Dodge

Hubby has another birthday! This year, we decided to celebrate his great big dodge truck, which we all love to pieces! The hill is made from my dirt cake recipe, and the rocks are chocolate. Everything but the vehicles are edible on this cake!

As you can see, only hubby's Dodge had the power to get to the top of the hill. The Hummer crashed off the backside, and all the Fords and Chevys are stuck in the mud!
I found a matchbox Dodge truck, painted it green, installed a paperclip lift kit, and swapped out for bigger tires. It is an exact replica of my hubby's pride and joy.
