Hubby Loves his Dodge

Hubby has another birthday! This year, we decided to celebrate his great big dodge truck, which we all love to pieces! The hill is made from my dirt cake recipe, and the rocks are chocolate. Everything but the vehicles are edible on this cake!

As you can see, only hubby's Dodge had the power to get to the top of the hill. The Hummer crashed off the backside, and all the Fords and Chevys are stuck in the mud!
I found a matchbox Dodge truck, painted it green, installed a paperclip lift kit, and swapped out for bigger tires. It is an exact replica of my hubby's pride and joy.

We Heart Math

My Sami loves math, almost as much as I do. She came home from school one day in early March, informing me that Pi Day (March 14 - 3.14) was almost here, and that her teacher was allowing the students to have a Pi Day Pie Party. Well, I don't really do Pie, so I decided to make a Pi Cake instead.

If you look closely, you'll see that there is a three dimensional Pi symbol on this cake, which is also made of cake. And glance again, you see that I have iced over one hundred digits of Pi across this cake (and yes, it is completely accurate and correct). Sami got extra credit that day :)

CHOO CHOO!!!

My little buddy, Boyd, LOVES trains. So, when his mama asked me to help out with is birthday cake, I knew exactly what to do. I have a really cool train car pan that I've been dying to use, so I set to work. He later informed me that the train was missing it's couplers (yes, the four year old pointed that out to me), so I will be sure to come up with something before the next train cake!

For my Koko

Sami has a friend that my kids call Koko, and they absolutely adore her. We love to have her over for dinner, and sometimes I feel like she's just another of my kids. She once mentioned to me that she wanted a music note birthday cake, just in casual conversation. So, when I knew that her birthday was approaching, what else could I do but make her exactly what she wanted. She was so surprised!
That's a custom cakeboard underneath the cake. It's Dvorak violin sheet music (be still, my heart), spray pasted onto a cardboard circle, and laminated.

We're Going to the Chapel!!!

I was honored when my big brother asked me to help him make his wedding cake. For a first try, we did a pretty spectacular job!!!

She who has the gold...

This was my first ever "cake for hire". My facebook friend, Amber, was planning her SIL's golden birthday party, and really wanted a fancy cake. She'd been watching my cake posts, and decided to ask me. The birthday girl was celebrating her 25th (hence the black) birthday, which happened to be on the 25th (thus, her "golden birthday"), and she is a hairdresser. So, I came up with the golden hairdryer, atop a black cake, and added some red (her fave color) for fun.

An Emo Rainbow

Sami's seventeenth birthday. She had a hard time deciding what kind of cake she wanted this year. After last year's topsy turvy cake, it would be hard to top it this year! She knew she wanted something totally 3-D, and the kid loves rainbows. My hubby likes to tease her about being Emo (all in good fun), so we decided to put a fun twist on her cake. We were all happy with the results.
