She who has the gold...

This was my first ever "cake for hire". My facebook friend, Amber, was planning her SIL's golden birthday party, and really wanted a fancy cake. She'd been watching my cake posts, and decided to ask me. The birthday girl was celebrating her 25th (hence the black) birthday, which happened to be on the 25th (thus, her "golden birthday"), and she is a hairdresser. So, I came up with the golden hairdryer, atop a black cake, and added some red (her fave color) for fun.

An Emo Rainbow

Sami's seventeenth birthday. She had a hard time deciding what kind of cake she wanted this year. After last year's topsy turvy cake, it would be hard to top it this year! She knew she wanted something totally 3-D, and the kid loves rainbows. My hubby likes to tease her about being Emo (all in good fun), so we decided to put a fun twist on her cake. We were all happy with the results.

My Babe LOVES Snakes!

June brought about another birthday for my babes. After last years bash, I decided to keep it small and just have a little family gathering. When I asked Isa for cake ideas, she immediately insisted upon a SNAKE CAKE. She knows I hate snakes, and she thinks it's funny to tease me. I think she also liked the fact that it rhymed :) Not only did I made her and Ary a snake cake, but I made them a Boa-constrictor cake that was over three feet long!!!

The cake reached from one side of the table to the other. It was at least 4 inches in diameter. Isa was most impressed!

The Great White Hunter

When hubby's birthday came around, I knew I had to make him something special. My daughters and I put our minds to work, and came up with a hunting themed cake. Daddy LOVES to hunt! With a few props from the toyroom, this cake came together quite nicely. Hubby got a big kick out of it. And I have to tell you, the red icing was Isa's idea. ;)

This little man was actually a motorcycle rider dressed in bright blue, whom I painted camo. I also sculpted his bow, strung it, and used fancy toothpicks for arrows.

Ahoy, Miss Jenny!

I was super excited when I was asked to make a cake for Miss Jenny's bridal shower. It was a pirate themed event, and who doesn't love pirates!? This was one of my most favorite projects, and it was a huge hit!!!

The ship and the island are made entirely from cake, and are completely edible, with the exception of the sails, the lego pirates, and the tree.
